Working principle of vacuum brazing

Brazing is a method of joining two or more metals by melting a filler metal or brazing alloy.

When alloys are used in the process in a vacuum furnace instead of pure metal, they contain no flux, so there is no need to remove the slag by mechanical means and the weld looks clean. Alloys must not contain elements that may sublimate or evaporate, as the desired joint properties cannot be achieved and may contaminate the furnace.

In general, alloys do not fuse at well-defined temperatures like pure metals, but within a certain range. Therefore, where possible, eutectic alloys should be sought. They have similar behavior to pure metals, where solid and liquid elements coexist only at eutectic temperatures.

There are a large number of filler metals available for vacuum brazing. In some alloys, usually used for high-temperature applications, in many cases there are still "solid" and "liquid" phases present at a single temperature, consisting of more than two metals. However, other alloys typically used in vacuum furnaces show a wide range of intermediate "solid-liquid phase lines" phases, with elevated temperatures between the two important phases. In this case, the time for complete fusion increases, because this occurs at a higher temperature, which would be the brazing process temperature.

High Temperature Vacuum Furnace

High Temperature Vacuum Furnace

This high temperature Vacuum Furnace is cost-effective. Max. vacuum 7×10-4Pa. Excellent uniformity, precise control for vacuum sintering, brazing, and hardening, etc. It is used for ceramic materials, ceramic-metal composites, refractory metals, and alloy materials, as well as vacuum brazing of alloy tools and superhard materials.
